The best things in life are free. (At least that’s what they told you.) In the age of free downloads and free ebooks and free online courses nothing is actually “Free”. Today free products cost you time and don’t really give you the information you seek.
Free Courses: Cost you time and…they typically give you the 10,000 foot view, but not the nitty gritty you actually need to be successful.
Free Samples: Cost you being more hungry…The usually give you enough to still be hungry, but don’t actually feed you.
Free Ebooks: Cost you time as well and they..usually give you just enough to be dangerous, usually to yourself or your business and then lead you to purchase a product. (You should have saved the time – the most valuable asset any of us have – and just went straight to buying the program.)
As you get older you start to realize that little cute sayings are cute and they make people feel good, but their lasting damage is often devastating. The one cute saying that I would like to bring into the light today is the saying…
The Best Things In Life Are Free.
Let’s really think about this. What are some of the best things in life? Well according to the Huffington post the list includes things like hugs, friends and family, happy memories. Basically love and happiness, but love and happiness are not free. Love and happiness cost you and they cost you a lot.
As Zig Ziglar says…”No…you don’t pay the price for a good marriage you enjoy the price. You pay the price for a bad marriage. You don’t pay the price for a healthy life style you enjoy the price. You pay the price for an unhealthy lifestyle.” You see the thing that many people miss in what Mr. Ziglar is saying is that there is still a price.
Let’s take a deeper look at the love part of the love and happiness.
Your friends are your friends because you give to them and in return they give to you. Great friendships are mutually beneficial relationships. You both give support, love and time. You willingly pay the cost to enjoy their company and their friendship. Friendship just like any relationship costs you your time love and energy. They are not free, but as Mr. Ziglar says you pay the cost because you enjoy the benefits that come with doing so.
Love is a many splendored thing they say, but if you don’t nurture it you will not have it. Love costs you your attention, your intention and your time. I would argue that time is more valuable than any money ever invented. You can always make more money, but you cannot make more time.
Happiness is a full time job. With so much in the world telling you that you are not enough happiness is one of the most expensive FREE things of all. If you do not dedicate your time and energy to seeking out things that make you happier you will definitely pay the cost for unhappiness instead of enjoying the cost of happiness.
All of this to say that although the idea that the best things in life are free sounds good and feels good. Realize that everything worth having costs you something. The question is are you going to be someone who enjoys the price of (A) or someone who pays the price for (B)? Either way there is a price. I hope is that you will enjoy the price.
A lot of people ask me how to grow their businesses and even how to start a business. Going forward I will be sharing my knowledge and experience with people who want to learn over at https://www.patreon.com/troyhorne
The information will not be free but it will be valuable. The great thing about patreon is that you only contribute when I create so if I don’t create a lesson or video course you don’t have to contribute. That way we all win. If you are interested in growing your business or learning how you can create or sustain a sidehustle head on over to patreon and join me. We’ll be growing our businesses and revenue either way. If you want to join great and if not great, just thought that I would offer some help for those who are serious. I look forward to helping you reach your goals. Until then see you later this week!
